What Does The Transmission Do?
In simplest terms, it makes sure the appropriate amount of engine power goes to the wheels to drive at any speed.
A step further, it enables the gear ratio between the drive wheels and engine to adjust as the car slows down and speeds up.
When Should I Have My Transmission Serviced?
You should refer to your vehicle manufacturer’s suggested service intervals. However, the industry standard is to service a manual transmission every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, and an automatic transmission every 60,000 to 1000,000 miles.
